7 months

Kinsley is 7 months old today! She has definitely been enjoying the warm weather this week. She gets to go outside at daycare and we've been taking walks at home too. We will be heading to Michael's family for Easter this weekend. We haven't had a long car ride since New Year's, so I'm hoping Kinsley likes the long trip in her new car seat!

No more pictures, please.

A Mix of Things

Kinsley and I have been having a great week at home. I'm definitely looking forward to summer when we will be able to get out more. She is feeling a lot better and has been smiling and laughing a lot. We went to her 6 month check-up yesterday and while we waited she would look at me and babble and then laugh like she told a joke. She now weight 19 lbs 5 oz and is 27 inches long. The doctor said her ears looked good too. We did have to quit giving her the xylarex because she was having too many side effects. Today is her last day on antibiotics so be hoping we can make it through next week with no problems!

At her doctor's appointment we did talk about the flat spot on the right side of her head. We've tried switching the side of the crib she sleeps on but have always given in to her fussing and turned her back. Her doctor is referring us to Iowa City for a consult with a doctor that specializes in this. He said it could range from just repositioning her to having to use a band or helmet to correct it. We don't have a set appointment yet, they are going to call after they look at her information. Last night we did battle through switching sides of the crib- she wouldn't take her evening nap but then was tired enough to go down from bed and actually slept okay. She still hasn't turned her head but hopefully it will come with time (and probably figuring out how to suck her other thumb!)

On a happier note we get her 6 month pictures taken tomorrow. We are hoping they go as well as the first time! I also took some early Easter pictures today. And even though I'm seeing flurries outside the window right now, the weather forecast still make it seem like Spring is coming so we are happy for that.

oh, that's better."

Checking In

Just checking in to give an update. Kinsley is still (hope, hope, hope) on the road to recovery. This past Tuesday she had another fever, while still on antibiotics, so back ot the doctor we went. She had/still had an ear infection so we have a different antibiotic for 10 more days. Within 24 hours her fever was gone and she seemed in better spirits so that is good. She is still working on getting over her cough and getting her breathing back to normal. We've also started the probiotic, and xylarex which will hopefully help prevent another go round of all this. I did talk to the doctor about allergies or immunity problems, but he still thinks it's just been a bad winter all around. He said if it was a larger issue Kinsley wouldn't continue to grow and thrive in her development. We go back this Friday for a follow-up/6 month well baby check. Hopefully by then she is doing good and the warm weather keeps it that way for a long while!

She is doing great in all other areas- she is starting to sit up and loves her solid foods. We are battling getting her to take more from her bottles- whether it's from being sick or that she wants more solids I don't know. She will only eat 3-4 oz bottles in the day, but still takes 6 oz before bed. She is sticking her fingers in her mouth a lot, but no teeth have popped out yet. She still loves rolling and all of her toys. Her current favorites are the penguin on her jumperoo, her elephant, and her teethers/rattles. We are still working on sleeping through the night, but she only gets up once so I suppose that's not a big complaint. I'm definitely looking forward to having next week off for Spring Break so I can just have fun with her all day!

She is definitely our little cutie!

We're working on 21st Century skills (the state would be so proud!) This site is called Kneebouncers and it is awesome for babies!

Dolly

Today I took a picture of Kinsley and her dolly. And then I remembered we had a picture of her and her dolly in the hospital. It's unbelievable how much she's changed in 6 months, seeing her everyday I don't always realize it. She's now rolling everywhere, we had to move her jumperoo up a notch, and she's even sitting on her own. I know the next 6 months are going to be just as fun as the last 6 have been!

Kinsley then...

Feeling Better

We are home from the hospital! Kinsley got released early yesterday afternoon and after a wild goose chase for her prescription we made it home. She is still feeling good and happy to be settling into her regular routine. We are spending this week at home, have a follow-up with a new doctor on Friday, and hopefully can return to daycare next week. Keep your fingers crossed for warm weather and no more illness!
